Defeat for PCC 2nds

Given that we could have selected a stronger team from the absentees there was not too much expectation in advance of this match but after winning the toss and Ed and Craigie reducing Crathie to 2 for 3 in the third over hopes were raised. Crathie batters played well enough but Ed was unluckily finding the edge on many occassions but they were adept in finding space. Bowser bowled his usual tight stuff but had three pretty simple catches grassed. Catching would ultimately cost us the match and we were chasing a rather bigger total than we needed to.

Our first three batsmen were all out caught driving on the up to mid off. Perhaps if we were chasing a smaller total they may not have had to play these shots. The skipper's nervy start did not indicate what was to follow and he batted with some contolled aggression but also with a run of different partners with only Souperdave showing a modicum of stickability. A sharp slip catch (that word again) to dismiss Bowser ended any chance of this game and in all probability promotion.

Bowser's display however convinced him that another season in G3 is possible even with his time erroded body so we will HAVE to win G3 next year if you want to see the back of him!
