A sting in the tail

Caley's openers bowled their 12 overs on the trot with Martin Holt bowling with pace complimented by Gary Duncan's swing and they ripped through our top 6 and we were staring another small score in the face. Paul and Dodsy led a mini revival but at 82-8 when Alan walked out to bat getting up to 100 would have been a bonus. The captain's instructions to Dobey to hold up and end for Dodsy were (thankfully) forgotten as soon as he stepped on to the pitch and he began to dispatch the Caley second string to all parts and at one stage he was outscoring Brett. Although Brett notched up a 50 it was Alan's "quarter ton" that had the greater influence on the attitude of both teams which was completely turned around by their 70+ run partnership.

The skipper had a "cunning plan" to deal with danger man McGeorge but Saj made him tear it up by removing his off peg with the second ball of the innings. He and Dodsy topped the Caley openers with their own combination of aggression and swing and removed the top three Caley boys in the first three overs and their bowling was as awesome as our earlier display against the Broch. Saj registering another "michelle" and Mash found the swinging conditions much to his liking finishing off the last three in style.

10 happy PCC boys headed of to the pub (Mash had to work) to celebrate a victory that looked very unlikely at 2:30. During the game Sajid said "this game can make someone very happy". I think Mr Dobey would say hear! hear! to that.
