Grammar at DP3
Another sunny early summers' day at Duthie Park saw a second convincing win for Portcullis. Grammar lost the toss and were put into bat on what, from afar, 'looked like a decent cricket wicket'.
The Portcullis opening duo of Grant Huitson and Steven Murphy set about proving the pitch to be a good bowling wicket, reducing Grammar to 0 for 3 in the third over. Chaudry looked to be steadying the ship somewhat for Grammar, before being run out by a smart piece of fielding by Bob Adie at square leg. Tight bowling followed from the first and second change, with a particularly impressive 2 for 2 from Ed Collins. The Grammar rearguard provided more resistance than the top order, managing to get the final score up to 83. Craig Wilson and Paul Brown both chipped in with wickets before Steve Murphy took a neat caught and bowled to end the innings.
Andy Prentice and Simon Percival opened the innings for Portcullis, obviously in vastly differing moods!. Whilst Simon played himself in, Andy was hitting all comers to the boundary. The grammar bowlers started to look decidedly dejected as the 50 came up in the 6th over, folowed closely by 50 for Andy. The game was wrapped up after a slightly scrappy period with a quick single.
The early close of the game unfortunately left almost 11 hours of drinking time- a fact that a few were rueing for most of Sunday!
