NAIR MAGIC PULLS IT OFF FOR PORTCULLIS AGAINST TURRIFF

In a crucial encounter against Turriff ,Portcullis got home easily thanks to a wonderful bowling performance from skipper Kris Nair who ended up with figures of 7 for 17 ,which include 5 wickets in a span of 7 balls which broke the back bone of the Turriff innings. He was unlucky to miss his hatrick twice.

Earlier Portcullis won the toss and elected to bowl first. Kris and Dobey opened the bowling with Dobey drawing the first blood by sending Ameer Mirashi back to the pavilion, a "crucial break through", which opened up the gate and set the stage perfectly for Kris who from there on took the attack to Turriff with his swing and pace. He started with a "ripper" by clean bowling D Chalmers, a delivery pitched outside leg stump swung away from left hander knocking back his middle stump. The batsman stood in the crease in disbelief before heading of to the pavilion. It was the perfect start for Kris and Portcullis. From thereon Portcullis bowlers got the grip of the match. Dobey and Bari gave great support to Kris by tighting one end and putting the pressure on Turiff Batsmen.Bari ended up with 2 wickets and Dobey chipping in with 1 wicket. Nitin, who was on a come back, bowled one over before Turriff were all out of 40.

Needing 41 to win,Portcullis openers started cautiously against one of the best bowlers in Grade 4 P.Bijil and Strathmore league bowler S.Grant who was fiery quick. After Ronnie got out Ranjan started attacking Bijil to unsettle his line and length,in between Portcullis lost the wicket of Nitin.Ranjan also got out after scoring 14 but Kannan and Kris joined together and finished the proceedings with Kris scoring the winning runs. Kannan and Kris remained unbeaten on 14 and 2 respectively.

It was a great victory which will strongly help Portcullis in their hunt for promotion. Well done guys!
