Toss was won by Stoneywood Dyce, who chose to field.
Portcullis : 87 all out (10).
Stoneywood Dyce : 88 for 6 (30).
Portcullis lose at a damp Stoneywood Dyce.
Portcullis lost the toss yet again and were naturally asked to bat.
They made a disastrous start, losing 2 wickets in the first over and from then on they never really recovered. Brett, Sony and Martin briefly steadied the innings but when they went Portcullis were really struggling at 39 for 5. Paul Brown with some big hitting, including 2 sixes, gave some hope of a decent total, but once he was out the end came very quickly. Portcullis were all out for 87. Only Paul with 41 and Brett with 25 made double figures.
Stoneywood Dyce made a good start and with the dangerous Colin Moir in good form looked to be cruising to a comfortable win. Portcullis kept plugging away however and when Brett bowled Moir with the score on 33 the game sprang back to life. It then looked like it could be a repeat of the first game between these 2 sides, when Stoneywood Dyce collapsed once Moir was out, only this time the result was to be different. While wickets now fell regularly, the score kept on moving and in the end Portcullis ran out of time as Stoneywood Dyce held their nerve and squeezed to victory with 4 wickets remaining.
Portcullis deserve credit for never giving in, the game was in the balance right up to the end. 8 different bowlers were used and kept Stoneywood Dyce under pressure all the way, but in the end a target of 88 just wasn’t enough.
