Turriff v. Portcullis - Saturday, 28 April, 2007

Toss was won by Turriff, who chose to field.

Portcullis : 151 for 9 (30).

Turriff : 124 all out (15).

Grant makes hay whilst the sun shines

Well he could have if Turra cooncils straw bailer hadnae been broken

We were inserted and Bowser and Ed gave us that rarest of beasts... a PCC solid start .Ed departed in the 14th over with the score on 43 to be replaced by Simon .When Bowser took his post retirement "Do" hangover to the pavilion he had run 68 of the 76 runs scored.

The score continurs steadily with unusually no sighting of The Portcullis duck flying over the Showground . Everyone batted ,scored or remained undefeated .

Special mention of Stuart who got on the scoreboard on his first ever game of cricket and new boy Dave C who scored 24 . It was ugly but brutal . Turra called him "a one trick pony" but the tired out fielder at coo corner probably used stronger langauge particular when having to retieve his big 6

Grant said our 151 -9 off our 45 (or 41?) overs was worth 190-200 on a non silage field mind you if Turra fined their players for dropped catches they could have afforded to fix the straw bailer !

Grant gave opener Mckay a first over "golden" by homing in on his middle stump ,Two almost identical balls reduced them to 26 for 3 in the 12th . He then brought on the second stringers .Brown P contined to make inroads and a smart Abdul return brought the fifth wicket , Nadagouda the opener was proving a problem but Grant came backand got him LB with a loose delivery ..... probably hitting off stick!! . An experiment with non regular bowlers did not produce wickets although Abdul bowled 4 very tight overs for only 4 runs . The experienced (old) combination of Bowie Huitson and Collins were brought back to finish things off with Ed getting a deserved wicket with the final ball

The new captain took on the burden of responsibility with ease and his 6 for 8 was probably the most accurate spell he has bowled for PCC .

The past captain faced the first ball and took the final catch and his contribution indicated he is not quite ready for his bus pass .. but he would be advised not to run for any of them!!
